Not sure that all of these are really worth the space: after all putting a bird on the jacket of a book about birds isn’t really all that amazing. You might even think it more original to omit a bird from the cover of Sweet Bird of Youth than to include one. Still many of these from The Casual Optimist are nice. I particularly like the Marcus Aurelius: Meditations cover: you can imagine a crow meditating. I append another handsome example.

You need to be careful though: not that long ago an embarrassed correction was made to the reprint of The Goshawk when it was pointed out that the dramatic bird on the cover was in fact a red-tailed hawk.
