I wrote about last year’s Association of Writers and Writing Programs Conference in Seattle. This years was in Minneapolis — not nearly such a weather welcoming venue. The Association has a round-up at its site.

Whatever people think about the future of publishing, there’s no doubt about the future of writing. How we’ll get it will no doubt be different, but get it we will. As the New Yorker piece by Dani Shapiro on this year’s meeting says “it was impossible to feel anything but buoyant optimism about the future of letters when traversing the streets and skyways of Minneapolis.”

Next year’s meeting will be in sunny LA. Probably less “traversing the streets” there, at least on foot.
