To me the most impressive bit of this story about the quiz for prospective employees at The Strand bookstore is that about 60 people apply to work there every week. That they have to take a test only seems sensible. I guess most bookstores-that-care have some method of sussing out a job applicant’s book knowledge, though most are no doubt less formal than the quiz.
